Mediheal Group of Hospitals has dismissed allegations made by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua suggesting that President William Ruto was involved in attempts to influence the hospital’s management or take advantage of its financial difficulties.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the hospital clarified that its recent decision to scale down services was driven solely by financial constraints and not by political interference or competitive pressures.
“The recent scaling down of services was purely due to financial constraints and not influenced by political considerations, competitive interests, or actions by any political leader,” the statement read.
The hospital reaffirmed its commitment to restoring full operations, noting that it continues to engage with partners, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to stabilise its services.
“Mediheal remains committed to working closely with its partners, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to stabilize operations and resume full services in due course,” the statement added. “We respectfully urge all individuals, particularly public leaders, to refrain from associating Mediheal with political narratives that are inaccurate and potentially damaging to its reputation.”
The clarification follows remarks by Gachagua, who alleged that President Ruto was interfering in the management of major medical institutions, including the Nairobi Hospital, for personal gain.
Mediheal’s management has reiterated that its focus remains on addressing operational challenges and ensuring continued access to quality healthcare for its patients.
