As Rigathi Gachagua moves from rally to rally telling Mt. Kenya people to abandon government, reject government programmes and retreat into opposition politics, William Ruto is walking into the G7, sitting with leaders of the world’s most powerful economies, looking for investment, trade opportunities and partnerships that will benefit all Kenyans , including the very people Gachagua is asking to isolate themselves.
The irony is breathtaking.
Gachagua wants the mountain to walk away from the table where development decisions are being made. Ruto is busy expanding that table and bringing Kenya closer to global capital, technology, markets and investment opportunities.
The Mt. Kenya region has always been known for biashara, entrepreneurship, industry and ambition. Its prosperity has never come from political tantrums or perpetual anger. It has come from access to markets, infrastructure, credit, investment and economic growth.
So while Gachagua is busy counting tribes and votes, Ruto is busy looking for investors, development financing, export markets and partnerships that can create jobs and grow businesses.
