On Inooro TV, Rigathi Gachagua declared that Jubilee should withdraw its candidate in the Ol Kalou by-election and allow DCP to face UDA directly.
The question is simple: Why?
Why should it always be Jubilee stepping aside? Why shouldn’t DCP withdraw and support Jubilee instead?
This mindset reveals a growing sense of entitlement where one politician assumes he alone decides who contests, who withdraws, and who represents Mt Kenya.
Mt Kenya does not belong to any individual, political party, or self-appointed kingmaker. The region is made up of millions of voters who have the constitutional right to choose their leaders through a competitive democratic process.
If DCP believes it has the support of the people, let it face Jubilee, UDA, and every other interested party at the ballot. Democracy is not about clearing opponents from the field. It is about earning the people’s mandate.
The people of Ol Kalou are not voting for who Rigathi Gachagua prefers. They are voting for who they believe can serve them best.
Mt Kenya belongs to its people, not to Jofri Rigathi Gachagua.
