Rigathi Gachagua is once again scrambling for the spotlight, this time banking on Inooro TV’s Kiririmbi Show to resuscitate his flagging political brand.
For weeks, Gachagua has tried relentlessly to force his way back into national headlines. From rallies couched in fiery slogans to attacks on President Ruto, his every move has been designed for attention. Yet Kenyans appear unmoved. What once stirred sympathy after his 2024 impeachment now rings hollow, dismissed as recycled theatrics.
On Sunday, September 21, Gachagua will mount the Kiririmbi stage as DCP leader and self-declared 2027 presidential candidate, expected to rally Mt Kenya around his candidacy while painting himself as the region’s defender against “betrayal.”
But analysts argue his script is predictable – and dangerous. “He’s locked in tribal posturing, not national vision. Kenyans want solutions, not incitement,”. Critics note that instead of outlining credible economic or governance plans, Gachagua has turned to grievance politics, casting loyalty tests and scapegoating rivals.
The Inooro appearance underscores a troubling pattern: an opposition figure more invested in stoking ethnic fires than offering policy. It is a gamble that risks shrinking his appeal to a narrow base even as the country demands unity.
With the 2027 race looming, Gachagua faces a stark choice – evolve into a statesman or remain boxed in as a tribal demagogue. For now, the headlines he craves may come, but the credibility he needs remains elusive.
