When political commentator Benji Ndolo warned that the damage Rigathi Gachagua is doing to President Ruto is “unbelievable,” he wasn’t exaggerating — he was sounding a national alarm. Because this is no longer about a disagreement between two men. This is about the soul of Kenya.
In his recent tour of the United States, Gachagua stood on foreign soil — not as a patriot, but as a bitter man — branding Kenya a failed state. He called his own government a dictatorship. He spoke of state capture, economic collapse, and injustice. But what he forgot — or chose to ignore — is that when you smear your country abroad, you stain all 50 million of us.
His words were not just heard in Texas; they echoed in Washington, where Kenya’s hard-earned status as a Major Non-NATO Ally now hangs in the balance. That partnership wasn’t given freely — it was earned through sacrifice, diplomacy, and trust. And yet, Gachagua tosses it aside, just to score points against the man who replaced him.
What kind of leader uses his platform to undermine his own country’s standing in the world? What kind of patriot lights a fire and invites foreigners to watch Kenya burn?
Let it be known: Kenya is not a pawn in anyone’s political war. Gachagua’s personal bitterness cannot be allowed to destroy the institutions, relationships, and unity we have fought to build.
This country has its flaws, yes. But it is ours. And we will not let one man’s ambition tear it down.
It’s time to say it clearly: Enough is enough. Kenya comes first.
Gachagua must be called to order. Let him fight his battles — but not at the expense of our beloved nation.
