Rigathi Gachagua has quickly transformed from a political force to Mt. Kenya’s greatest embarrassment. Instead of building a credible leadership brand for the region, he has turned himself into a liability, dragging all of us down with his reckless words and erratic behavior. Five things stand out that are upsetting Mt. Kenya about Gachagua, and they explain why his politics has become toxic.
First, his constant declaration that he will run for president is pure deception. Having been impeached, the law bars him from seeking office again, yet he shamelessly misleads the public with empty promises. This kind of dishonesty insults the intelligence of Mt. Kenya people.
Second, his obsession with “Wantam” rallies to remove Ruto from State House is hollow and meaningless. He cannot articulate a single solution for farmers, the youth, or the economy. All he offers is noise without substance.
Third, his reputation as a snitch to America is shameful. Instead of defending the region with dignity, he runs abroad with gossip, making us look weak, divided, and untrustworthy.
Fourth, he cannot keep secrets. Every private conversation eventually finds its way into his roadside speeches and endless interviews. This untrustworthiness explains why even his own allies are distancing themselves.
Fifth, his abrasive and self-centered style has destroyed relationships with leaders across Kenya. Instead of uniting Mt. Kenya with others, he has painted us as arrogant, combative, and power-drunk.
Gachagua’s conduct is no longer just about him—it has become an image problem for Mt. Kenya. His lies, recklessness, and betrayal have stained our reputation nationally and internationally. Unless we decisively reject his brand of politics, the entire region risks being judged by one man’s incompetence.
