Jubilee Party aspirants have praised Fred Matiang’i for responding to their calls to organize independent political mobilization campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections. The move, which allows aspirants to hold their own events separate from opposition activities, is seen as a bold strategy to protect the party’s interests in the Mt Kenya region.
Aspirants, led by Ngunjiri Wambugu, had expressed concerns that the growing presence of Rigathi Gachagua and his Democracy for the Citizens Party in the region could overshadow Jubilee’s grassroots structures if party mobilization was not strengthened.
Today, the Jubilee team held a well-attended meeting in Mathioya, Murang’a County, marking a deliberate effort to mobilize supporters independently of Gachagua’s group, which was also holding a church service in Gatanga, Murang’a County. The move signals a clear intent by Jubilee aspirants to establish their presence and assert the party’s influence ahead of next year’s general elections.
Speaking to journalists, several aspirants said Matiang’i’s support for independent meetings demonstrates strong leadership and responsiveness to the concerns of those working at the grassroots. They emphasized that the ability to hold their own events ensures that Jubilee’s aspirants can directly engage supporters, communicate their vision, and organize campaigns without being overshadowed by rival political formations.
“The leadership has finally heeded our calls,” said one aspirant. “We now have the space to mobilize, strategize, and connect with voters.
This is a critical step for Jubilee to maintain its relevance in Mt Kenya.”
Political analysts say Matiang’i’s move could strengthen Jubilee internally, giving aspirants a platform to consolidate support while protecting the party’s core structures. The development highlights a growing focus on proactive grassroots mobilization as Jubilee positions itself ahead of the 2027 elections.
