It is peak political comedy for Rigathi Gachagua to suddenly declare that he will not allow anyone to disrespect former President Uhuru Kenyatta. This, coming from the very man who treated Uhuru like a national punching bag, deserves a standing ovation… or at least a laugh track.
Let’s not rewrite history with a biro. In 2022, there was no name Gachagua didn’t call Uhuru. From press conferences to roadside rallies, insults were flying faster than campaign helicopters.
As Deputy President, he allegedly planned and facilitated the great Northlands invasion — trees cut down, sheep disappearing mysteriously, and vijana wakiacha “big heaps of irritants” like they were marking territory. National embarrassment, served fresh.
Not satisfied, unknown visitors were reportedly dispatched to Mama Ngina’s homes in Ichaweri and Nairobi. The famous “red line” was crossed, erased, then crossed again with confidence. No wonder Uhuru nowadays shakes hands like he’s checking for electric shocks.
Around the same time, Uhuru’s son Jomo was accused of owning illegal firearms. His house was broken into, he was harassed — all while the accusers pretended this was just “law taking its course.”
Fast forward to today: Gachagua is now Uhuru’s loudest bodyguard. Defender of dignity. Protector of legacy. Chairman of the Uhuru Fan Club.
Suddenly, Gachagua is very clever.
Suddenly, he loves respect.
Suddenly… hii ni maajabu kabisaaa.
Kenyan politics if funny. Yesterday’s enemy becomes today’s best friend — without even deleting the old tweets.
