I honestly don’t understand it, bana — why can’t the Mt. Kenya region rally behind leaders like Ndindi Nyoro or Governor Irungu Kang’ata? Why must Rigathi Gachagua, of all people, be the self-proclaimed “kingpin”? The signs are clear: Gachagua is not the kind of leader the mountain needs — or deserves.
From the moment he stepped into national politics, Gachagua has thrived on division, tribal rhetoric, and victimhood politics. Instead of uniting the region, he has constantly reminded us who is from where, who supported whom, and who owes him what. He turned the once-vibrant political heartbeat of the mountain into a noisy arena of blame, entitlement, and threats. That is not leadership — it is manipulation.
Leaders like Ndindi Nyoro are talking about opportunity, youth empowerment, and economic transformation. Kang’ata is focused on education, healthcare, and innovation in Murang’a. These are forward-looking leaders — not those obsessed with settling old political scores or positioning themselves as tribal warlords.
Gachagua’s brand of politics is outdated and dangerous. It drags the mountain backward into the dark days of ethnic isolation instead of pushing us forward into unity and prosperity. His arrogance, his love for power plays, and his bitterness are slowly poisoning the region’s reputation nationally.
The Mt. Kenya region — proud, industrious, and visionary — cannot afford to be led by a man who feeds on fear and division. Kenya has moved on from that kind of politics. The question is: when will Mt. Kenya move on too?
Because the truth is simple — Gachagua is not the future. He’s the past trying to disguise himself as relevance. It’s time the mountain stopped following noise and started following vision.
