Rigathi Gachagua’s story in politics has always been about himself, not the people he claims to represent. From his days at the University of Nairobi, he was known as a snitch who sided with power instead of standing with his fellow students. He learned early that protecting himself and gaining favors mattered more than fighting for others.
As a District Officer during Moi’s rule, he became even worse. In Molo, Kikuyus suffered during clashes, but instead of defending his people, he served the very regime that allowed them to be attacked. His loyalty was never to his community—it was to his own survival and career.
When he rose to national politics, he again showed his selfish side. He pushed Mt. Kenya to support their long-time rival, not because it was best for the region, but because it gave him the Deputy President’s seat. Millions of votes were used as bargaining chips for his own gain.
Even now, Gachagua’s politics are divisive and empty. He spends his energy attacking others, creating tribal battles, and keeping the Opposition trapped in small regional fights. While Kenyans want jobs, lower prices, and better services, Gachagua is busy shouting ethnic slogans that do nothing for ordinary people.
And as 2027 approaches, he is on yet another selfish mission. His plan is to gather Mt. Kenya numbers, not to lift the region or the country, but to use them to negotiate with others for money and power. To him, people are not citizens—they are political currency.
Real leaders unite, build, and serve. Gachagua only looks out for himself. His record shows one thing clearly: his politics have always betrayed the very people he pretends to fight for.
