In football, you can’t wear two jerseys in the same match. But some bloggers thought they could do that in politics — support Jubilee while secretly supporting the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP). Now that they have been told to choose one side, they are panicking.
For months, these bloggers played double. In public, they called themselves #TeamMatiangi, hoping Jubilee would give them money. In private, they also posed as #TeamGachagua, believing he has influence in Mt. Kenya and could help them in 2027. They thought they were being smart — one side for money, the other for power later.
But now the trick is over. Both Jubilee and DCP want to know where they really stand. The bloggers are making noise online, not because they care about issues, but because they are upset that their game has been exposed.
They say Gachagua has little money but strong influence. At the same time, they believe Matiangi’s camp will have money and might pay them for communication work. That’s why they wanted to sit on both sides. But in the end, it only shows them as opportunists, not real strategists.
The truth is simple: you can’t belong to two parties. You either stand with Jubilee or you stand with DCP. Those who want to play both sides will soon find themselves with nothing.
The days of double play are over. And as we move toward 2027, anyone who refuses to choose a side will be left on the sidelines.
