Truant politicians from Mt. Kenya against President William Ruto’s leadership, rallying behind impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua are displaying dangerous double standards in their dissent and it is time they are confronted head-on, to prevent them from driving the region into prolonged political hardship.
Lately, the faction has added to its long list of public accusations, claims of the President neglecting Mt Kenya, while channeling development exclusively to Opposition zones.
A primitive leader of the 21st century would categorize regions as either pro-government or opposition-aligned, a fantasy Rigathi Gachagua lived during his short, tainted stint as Deputy President.
Tragically though, he now implements the reverie in his little green party, with adherents like Nyandarua Senator John Methu preaching it loud.
”President William Ruto was in Homa Bay, and he launched many projects there, yet they did not vote for him,” Senator Methu, 23rd August 2025 statement went uncondemned with no known consequences from his leader, Gachagua.
This simplistic thinking, the Head of State knows has hindered Kenya’s overall progress and a is part of the reasons he impeached his crass first deputy.
Every part of the nation deserves equal state resources from the current administration, regardless of how it voted in 2022 and notwithstanding how it will vote in the next 2027 elections.
For any President, developing every part of the country is crucial. Kenyans from the nation’s diverse cultures and ethnicities regularly move across the country’s vast landscape seeking economic opportunities and better living, regardless of their political affiliation.
If Kenya is to truly become one united country, then equitable distribution of resources must be the guiding principle. Development must not be used as a reward for loyalty or withheld as a punishment for political choices. Every community deserves a fair share of the National cake.
If everyone is pursuing a united future where prosperity is shared and no region or community is left behind, such efforts will receive ready hands.
But if there are attempts to return the country to the tribalism and crass economic discrimination of the past, such futile efforts will equally receive rock solid opposition by a group that fights hardest and longest for the great ideals of Kenya: equality, equity and non-discrimination.
