Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made headlines again—this time with a chilling claim that a “killer squad of 101 officers” was formed under President Ruto’s instructions. These are not words to throw around carelessly. In any serious democracy, Gachagua would be grilled immediately: When did he learn about this alleged squad? Was he part of the meeting? And most importantly, what did he do about it?
You don’t stay silent about murder squads and then casually drop it during a press conference like it’s just politics. Either Gachagua has damning information and sat on it while lives were at risk—or he’s spreading fear just to stay relevant in the public eye.
Let’s not forget: this is the same man who, just months ago, was the heartbeat of the Kenya Kwanza government. He sat at the highest table. If such a serious matter existed, he had every chance to act—yet said nothing until now?
So what’s the truth? Was he complicit, or is he simply being reckless?
Kenyans deserve clarity, not confusion. We are tired of emotional politics and leaders who light fires then walk away when the smoke chokes the public. If Gachagua has proof, let him hand it over to investigators. If not, he must be held accountable for causing panic and undermining public trust.
This is not the time for drama. It’s the time for truth.
Let the former Deputy President speak with facts—or stay silent before his words burn down what’s left of public faith.
